European Deafblind Holiday 2007

The 10th European Deafblind Holiday took place in Norway. This was based at the Sogne Conference Centre, town of Sogne, which is near Kristiansand at the south coast of Norway. It was held from Monday 6 August to Sunday 12 August 2007.

There were 81 participants: 35 deafblind people, and 46 guide-interpreters. 11 countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom) were represented.

It has been a successful Holiday and the participants had a great time and enjoyed being together. Almost all of the participants attended most of the activities on the program. At the fishing trip the Deafblind got 34 fishes, 32 mackerels, 1 pollack, and 1 cod (0.5 kilo). It was Urban who got the cod. Later that evening the participants grilled the fishes for dinner, and they all agreed on that the fishes tasted great.

10.00Excursion to Søgne old church and rectory. Søgne old church is one of the oldest frame work churches in Norway. The church was built in 1640 and the famous Norwegian poet, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, married his wife Karoline in this church in 1858.
