5th EBU Deafblind Conference and the EDBU founding General Assembly Fredericia, Denmark, 2003
The 5th EBU Deafblind Conference, the Founding Congress of the European Deafblind Union (EDBU), and the 1st General Assembly of the EDBU were held jointed in Fredericia, Denmark from 18 October to 23 October 2003. These three joint meetings were arranged in cooperation between the Interim Board of the EDBU and the European Blind Union.
The 5th EBU Deafblind Conference was held from 18 to 20 October on the theme "Independence and Equality of Deafblind People - the Right of Deafblind People and the Responsibility of the State".
The founding of the European Deafblind Union was in motion from 21 to 22 October for the purpose to unite and strengthen the position of Deafblind people in Europe. The Founding Congress of the EDBU was held in 21 October. A Constitution of the EDBU was under consideration. Then the founding 1st General Assembly of the EDBU took place 22 October 2003.
